Middle-grade excellence: One Crazy Summer

A masterclass in writing middle-grade realistic fiction. Sweet, funny, sad and ultimately hopeful. And as the eldest of three, I completely empathised with Delphine.I was completely enthralled by Williams-Garcia’s ability to show how life, politics and the world outside affected her and her sisters’ lives.

Compulsory. And there are two sequels, just as good as the first book.
